Jacmena
“Tin bòta, Jacmena!” It can’t be easy to be the only one to see the deaths. THE deaths, of course: did you think there was only one?
The video game, designed as a modern point-and-click, tells the story of a girl with special vision that enables her to detect the dead mixed with humans. However, they do not seem to like being detected; they are threatening to her and avoid her, although Jacmena somehow tries to contact them. Only Zvan, elderly janitor of the cemetery, decides to take this mysterious girl under his wing…. Also because there is a lot going on in the cemetery!
In addition to the story and all the “easter egg” provided to tell the tale of Romagna, “Jacmena” also asks the player to take care of the cemetery, cleaning up the graves, keeping the candles lit and reinvigorating flowers and plants. Meanwhile, there will also be an opportunity to get into the kitchen a bit and steal some typical recipes!
“Jacmena” is a project born from the creative minds of Melania Ugolini and Sara Fattori in the summer of 2024. The idea for the plot takes its cue from the famous “mort imbariega” in Faenza Cathedral, a Baroque sculpture depicting a skeleton and nicknamed “Jacmena” by the people of Faenza because this name, in Romagnolo, is nothing more than a nickname for death. Deliberately inspired by local legends to spread more curiosity about Romagna to gamers around the world, “Jacmena” reinterprets the legend, names the protagonist of the story and shows here and there little realities of her homeland.
A demo is scheduled for release in fall 2025; an initial release on steam is planned, but also a porting to other platforms to be announced soon.
In Kodama we know you will be very curious to see the result, but for now, like Jacmena…. Hang in there!
